BIOGRAPHY

A native of Yorkshire, Darbey's home and studio are nestled in the dramatic Yorkshire landscape known throughout the world as Brontë country.
Inspired by the way the vast expanse of the Yorkshire landscape opens the mind to questions of mortality, humanity, and the cosmos, Darbey's work references art, natural sciences and philosophy. The impact of her technique, concept and mediated scale allow Darbey to alter audience perceptions, which in turn allows viewers to meditate on their relationship to universal concepts.

Darbey's shifting scale references the concept of scale explored by fellow Yorkshire native Henry Moore. In 2018 Darbey embarks on a new phase exploring textiles as structural, folding elements to create new large-scale works.
